KINSTON - Allen Russell "Dusty" Grant, 68, of Kinston passed away on Monday, November 19, 2012. Born in Greene County on May 29, 1944, he was the son of the late Edward Bruce Grant Sr. and Lucille Waters Grant Harrison. Dusty was a farmer and will be remembered as a loving husband, daddy, granddaddy, and brother. His biggest joys were sitting on the front porch watching his wife catch fish and his grandchildren play ball. He will be greatly missed - he made a lasting impression on everyone he met. His love for animals was evident in the way he would rescue every stray or injured animal he saw and bring it home for Linda to take care of. He is survived by his wife, Linda Hardison Grant of the home; daughter Melissa Grant "Nicki" Tyndall and husband Dynamite, of Kinston; grandchildren Grant and Garrett Tyndall; sisters Donna Denise Rowe and husband Eddie, of Timberlake, N.C. and Faye Grant of Atlanta; and brother, Edward Bruce Grant Jr. of Raleigh. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park, Pink Hill. The family will receive friends following the service and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lenoir County SPCA, 2455 Rouse Road, Kinston, NC 28504.
