COVE CITY - Carolyn Mitchell Cauley, 75, of Cove City passed away on Monday, July 2, 2012. She was born in Craven County on April 13, 1937, to the late Raymond and Eva Mitchell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elwood Cauley. She attended Cove City Elementary School and graduated from Dover High School in 1955 and married Elwood Cauley on May 27, 1956. Carolyn was a Charter Member of Cove City F.W.B. Church, an active member of Women Active for Christ and Women's Christian Association of New Bern. In addition, she was an active member of the Eastern Star in Trenton and Vanceboro and was a member of the Friends of the Library in Cove City. Carolyn is survived by her sisters, Elaine Dills of Cove City and Althea Davis of Charlotte; brothers Horace Lee Mitchell, Clayton Mitchell and wife Janet, of Cove City; brother-in-law Melvin Cauley of New Bern; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and many friends. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 6, 2012, at Howard-Carter Funeral Home, Kinston, N.C. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2012, at Cove City F.W.B. Church with the Reverends Bobby Bragan and Dennis Wiggs officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cove City FWB Church, 325 White Avenue, Cove City, NC 28523. Howard-Carter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
