LA GRANGE - Edward Lee Stroud, 70, of La Grange, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2013. Lee was born May 15, 1943 in Lenoir County to the late Joseph Odell Stroud and Helen Phillips Stroud. Lee retired from Dobbs School where he worked for more than 22 years. Prior to that, Lee had worked for Tropigas and the Kinston Airport. He was a member of Daly's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church and took great pride in caring for the church grounds. He loved working with his hands and was most proud of the play area he built for his granddaughter, Brea. Lee enjoyed working in his yard, tending to his flowers, fishing and most of all cherished time spent with his family. A service of remembrance will be held Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at 6 p.m. from Rouse Funeral Home with Rev. Edward Thornton officiating. Interment will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. from Daly's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery, La Grange. Lee is survived by his wife of 39 years, Nancy Sandlin Stroud; son, Edward Odell "Eddie" Stroud of Greenville; granddaughter, Brea Leigh Stroud; sister, Laine Stroud Bean and husband, Rob of Sebring, Fla.; along with a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Lee was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Marshall Stroud and Galen Owen Stroud; and a sister, Frances Hulme.
