LA GRANGE - Evelyne Harper Rouse, 85, of La Grange, passed away late Friday, October 18, 2013. Evelyne was born July 23, 1928 in Duplin County to the late Jamie Harper and Ludie Mae Hill Stroud. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty one years, Gordon Earl "Monk" Rouse; granddaughter, Stephanie Wade; and two siblings, Shirley Pate and James Harper. Evelyne retired from Kennedy Home where she worked as a dietician and was a member of Wheat Swamp Christian Church. She cherished time spent with family, especially seeing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Evelyne enjoyed living at La Grange Villas where she participated in the Tuesday Bible Study and loved time spent on her porch looking after her flowers and watching the hummingbirds. Evelyne set an example for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that will lead them all their lives. A service of remembrance will be held Monday, October 21, 2013 at 7 p.m. from Rouse Funeral Home with Rev. Hank Jarman officiating. Interment will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. from Fairview Cemetery. Evelyne is survived by four children, Allyson Price and husband, Joe, Wayne Rouse and wife, Deborah, Gail Rouse, Tim Rouse and wife, Stephanie; eight grandchildren, Joey Price and wife, Joanna, Mindy Rouse and husband, Jamie, Jordan Rouse and wife, Emily, Jamie Daughety and wife, Laura, Brandon Rouse, Jeremy Westbrook and wife, Ashley, Ashleigh Seibert and husband, Liam and Logan Evans; six great-grandchildren, Trent Wade, Pailyn Price, Jackson Rouse, Payton Rouse, Pearson Rouse and Amelia Martin; grandson-in-law, Mark Wade; and a brother-in-law, Reid Pate and wife, Barbara. The family will receive friends Monday following the service and at other times they will be at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Joe Price, 2660 Hodges Farm Road, La Grange.
