CEDAR POINT - Fred Cooper Clemons, age 77, of 105 Dolphin Bay Estates passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2013, at Carteret General Hospital. Fred and Jean had a very special love for each other. He loved his daughter and granddaughter. He was a true gentleman who loved his family and church family. He was a retired supervisor with the N.C. Dept. of Insurance, member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Cedar Point, N.C., past president of SEANC, past Master Mason of McCall, S.C. Masonic Lodge, a former member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, a paratrooper in the U.S. Army, member of the N.C. Law Enforcement Association and a former deputy sheriff with the Scotland County Sheriff's Dept. Upon his retirement he served with the Emerald Isle Police Dept. until his health declined. He also received the Order of the N.C. Longleaf Pine Award. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 30, 2013, at Emmanuel Baptist Church located at 120 Bell Street Cedar Point, N.C., with Dr. Steve Wakefield officiating. Entombment will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Kinston, N.C. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Carlton Clemons and Eva Erwin Clemons. He is survived by his wife, Jean Quinn Clemons of the home; a daughter, Regina Holloway and husband Jim, of Greensboro, N.C.; two brothers, Gill Clemons of Hudson, Fla. and Kenneth Clemons of Honduras; a sister, Marilyn Long and husband Gene, of Tampa, Fla.; and a granddaughter, Jessika Holloway of Greensboro, N.C. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Monday at the church. Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church (Building Fund) 120 Bell St. Cedar Point, N.C. 28584.
