LA GRANGE - Henrietta Hamlet King, 101, of La Grange, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013. Mrs. King was born June 9, 1912 in Warren County to the late Sammie Davis Hamlet and Mamie Stokes Hamlet. She was wife of the late Foster King. Her life centered around her family and she set an example for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that will lead them all their lives. Mrs. King attended White Oak Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church and in earlier years had attended Inez Baptist Church. She enjoyed planting flowers around her home, working in the yard, gardening, hanging clothes on the line and loved being on the go. A service of remembrance will be held Friday, July 26, 2013, at 6 p.m. from Rouse Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Smith officiating. A graveside committal service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. from Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery, Arcola. Mrs. King is survived by three children, Nancy K. Maxwell and her friend, Bobby Pittman of Lakeland, Fla., Ronald G. King and wife Carolyn, of La Grange and Connie K. Agans and husband Billy, of Swansboro; daughter-in-law Beth King Earnest and husband Dallas, of Swansboro; two siblings, Doris Alston and husband Linwood, of Littleton and Coleman Neal and wife Donna, of Portland, Ore.; seven grandchildren, Lisa Haithcock, Jeff Loop, Sandra Clark and husband Martin, Sam King Jr. and wife Michelle, Todd King and wife Crissy, Kim Smith and husband Steve, Lori Lee and husband Danny; brother-in-law Shirley Myrick; sister-in-law Ruby Neal; and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. King was preceded in death by two sons, Samuel T. King and Robert Dean King; grandson Michael Haithcock; two sisters, Estelle Robertson and Julia Myrick; and two brothers, Wilson Neal and Stanley Hamlet. The family will receive friends Friday following the service and at other times they will be at the home. Online condolences may be expressed at rousefh.com.
