WHITEVILLE - Henry Leon Dixon of Whiteville, formerly of Pollocksville, N.C. and Folkston, Ga., entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at the age of 91. Born March 27, 1923, to the late John and Odessa Connor Dixon, he was educated in the Greene County School System, Elizabeth City State College (Univ.) and North Carolina A & T State University. He was retired from the Georgia School System. He also taught in the North Carolina and Florida School Systems. He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Cora Willie Dixon. Cherishing his memory is one child, Jacqueline D. Roseboro and husband Thurman Roseboro, of Whiteville, N.C.; four grandchildren, Preston Roseboro and Terrance Roseboro of Whiteville, N.C., Coretta R. Walker and husband Daniel Jawaan (D.J.), of McLeansville, N.C. and Karen R. Anderson and husband James M., of Kernersville, N.C. Foster grandchildren, Carolyn Lowery of Lumberton, N.C. and Geraline Lowery of Greenville, S.C..; and 12 great-grandchildren. Special granddaughter, Marlena Johnson and husband Shaye, of Raleigh,N.C.; and sister-in-law, Mary Willie of Pollocksville, N.C. The family will receive friends at 5036 Old Lumberton Road, Whiteville. Services will be held at St. James A.M.E. Zion Church, 16297 Twisted Hickory Road, Bladenboro, N.C. on Saturday, May 10, 2014; family visitation will be at 10 a.m., funeral services at 11 a.m. Following lunch, burial will be at Murphy Cemetery, Goshen Road, Pollocksville, N.C.
