PINK HILL - Jimmy Derand Mervin, born May 4, 1959, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 17, 2012, surrounded by his loved ones. He is survived by his wife, Vickie C. Mervin of the home; sons, Jimmy D. Garvey and wife Candice of Cove City, and Jason Mervin and wife Kelly of Norfolk, Va.; step-son, Brandon Stilley of Pink Hill; his very special grandbabies, Elyssa Garvey, Jacquelyn Garvey, Dylan Garvey, Brian Mervin and Caeley Mervin; and step-grandchildren, Amanda Tucker, Destiny Whitfield and Taylor Whitfield. He is also survived by his brothers, Jack, John, Joe and Junior Mervin, Franky and William Wilkins; his sisters, Dorothy, Kathleen and Hazel Mervin and Bessie Wilkins. Jimmy was a 17 year employee with the city of Kinston. In his free time, Jimmy enjoyed camping, boating, golf-carting and fishing. He was very loved and will be forever missed. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, 2012 at Pink Hill Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 21, 2012 at Pink Hill Funeral Home, with burial following at Oak Ridge Memorial Park in Pink Hill.
