KINSTON – Joseph Bryan "J.B." Baker, 76, of Kinston, NC, passed away Friday, March 28, 2014 at Lenoir Memorial Hospital. J.B. was preceded in death by his parents John M. and Ruth Loftin Baker; sisters: Margaret Baker Branch, Iris Baker Dupree, and Mary Ruth Baker Amyette Henderson; and brothers: John Curtis, Newton, Douglas, C.L. "Duck", Billy, and Robert Baker. J.B. served his country with the U.S. Army for 2 years. He worked in maintenance at Du Pont where he retired after 33 years and was the founder of Baker Pools. He was also a Charter member of Southwood Memorial Christian Church, where he served as a past Trustee and past Deacon. Survivors include his wife, Dianne Baker; two daughters: Pamela Ruth Baker of Tacoma, Washington, and Julie Baker Bryant and husband Chad of Raleigh; and grandchildren: Charlotte Dianne Bryant, Conner Bryant, and Chase Bryant. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 31, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at Garner Funeral Home with Reverends Amos Sykes, Ricky Vernon and Ryan Vernon officiating. Visitation will follow the service. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Baker Family Cemetery.
