YOUNGSVILLE - Karen Alphin Smith Estes, 44, of Youngsville, died July 18, 2012, at home with her loved ones by her side after a courageous battle with brain cancer. She was born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina, the daughter of Faison and Linda Smith. Karen was a 1985 graduate of Athens Drive High School; attended Louisburg College and started her career in the banking industry leading to a branch manager position with BB&T and becoming a mortgage broker. Prior to her illness, Karen was the Operations Manager for The Factory in Wake Forest. Karen is survived by her husband, Todd Estes; daughter Kristin Klaire; sons Garrett and Hunter all of the home; mother Linda Alphin Smith of Clayton; father Faison Delano Smith and Betty Boone of Albertson; sister Kimberly Smith Todd and husband Jeff, of Clayton and nieces, Kaitlyn and Kara; sister Katrina Smith Muirhead and husband Iain, of Cary and nephew, Rockford; mother-in-law Cindy Estes of Wake Forest; sister-in-law Leslie Estes Horton and husband Rob, of Youngsville; numerous beloved aunts, uncles and cousins; and her beloved dog, Lucky and cat, Tiger. A service for Karen will be held at 6 o'clock, Friday evening, July 20, 2012, at Wake Forest United Methodist Church, followed by visitation with the family. A burial will be held at 12 o'clock, Saturday, July 21, 2012, in the Alphin family cemetery in Mount Olive, N.C.
