LA GRANGE - Lavee Chase, 81, passed away on June 23, 2012. Born in Johnston County, she was the daughter of Leroy and Flossie Lynch. Mrs. Chase was a homemaker and worked as a seamstress during her lifetime. She was also a member of the Jesus World Fellowship Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed family get-togethers. She was also a wonderful cook and avid gardener and always looked forward to reading her newspaper each afternoon. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Norwood Chase, her parents, Leroy and Flossie Lynch, and one daughter, Connie Mozingo Fields. She is survived by three daughters, Mary Jo Butler of La Grange, and Rhonda Lynn Mozingo and Kimberly Gail Smith, both of Cove City; two sons, Linwood "Puddy" Mozingo of Deep Run and Roy Allen Mozingo of LaGrange. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Howard-Carter Funeral Home with Rev. John Butler officiating. Burial will follow the service at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Kinston. The family will receive friends on Tuesday night, June 26th, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted and the family may be visited at the home of her daughter, Mary Jo Butler at 4914 JC's Village Road in La Grange.
