LA GRANGE - Martha Trombley Cheney, 57, of La Grange, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2012. Martha was born September 9, 1954, in St. Albans, Vermont to the late Emile and Marion Trombley. Martha had a great love for children and found great reward in assisting children with handicaps and special needs. She was a member of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints, Kinston First Ward. Martha enjoyed serving others, cooking, family gatherings and cherished time spent blowing bubbles with her grandchildren. A service of remembrance will be held Friday, July 6, 2012, at 2 p.m. from The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints, Kinston with Bishop Casey Oliver officiating. Interment will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park. Martha is survived by her husband of almost 39 years, Rickey Cheney; three children, Christopher Michael Cheney and wife Cindy, of Pikeville, Jeremy Michael Cheney of Goldsboro and Amber Michelle Cheney of La Grange; four grandchildren, Joshua Wayne Oliver and wife Danielle, Thomas Bruce Oliver and wife Cassie, Matthew James Cheney and Michael Loren Cheney; three great-grandchildren, Jason, Adrianna and Cailey; sister Judy Cheney of Colchester, Vt.; and a brother, Leon Trombley of Cape Cod, Mass. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home and at other times they will be at the home. Online condolences may be expressed at rousefh.com.
