KINSTON - Nancy Victoria Langston Harrison, of Kinston, N.C., died on Thursday, June 14, 2012, in Greenville, N.C. at the age of 86. She is survived by two daughters, Vicki Harrison Murray and husband Dan, of Greenville, and Jimi Beth Harrison of Cary. "Nanny" leaves two grandchildren, James Murray and wife Merideth, and Jennifer Murray, all of Greenville; and two great-grandchildren, Samantha and Harrison Murray who brought her many smiles. She was preceded in death by her wonderful husband, James F. Harrison; her mother, Victoria "Teenie" Robinson Langston; brother Horace Langston; sisters Martha Langston Smith, Juanita Langston Clark, Tommie Langston Millican, and Bettie Langston Ingram. She was loved as "Aunt Nancy" and will be missed by numerous nieces and nephews from North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, and Texas. Born October 18, 1925, in Deep Run, she graduated from Deep Run High School in 1944 where she played basketball and later attended Atlantic Christian College. Nancy married James F. Harrison June 20, 1947. She lived an active and fulfilling life and was her daughters' biggest fan in their extracurricular activities. She retired from the NC Forestry Service at the age of 61 and loved to travel to visit family members and with friends on road trips, capturing events with photos. Nancy was an active and devoted member of Northwest Christian Church in Kinston until her health declined. She enjoyed time with her family, nieces and nephews, neighbors, and friends at Atlantic Beach, and loved attending and watching Carolina Tar Heel Basketball games. We would like to express our gratitude to her care givers at Carolina House and the members of Hooker Christian Church in Greenville for the love and care she received the past year. The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m. on Friday, June 15, 2012, at Howard-Carter Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, June 16, 2012, at 11 a.m. with burial following the service at Pinelawn Memorial Park. Howard-Carter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Sign the guest book at kinston.com.
