DECATUR, Ga. - Nell Rae Sutton Noble of Decatur, Ga., passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on April 5, 2013. Nell, the daughter of Retha Rhodes Sutton and Herman Lee Sutton, was born December 30, 1919, in Kinston, N.C. Nell Rae was Valedictorian of the La Grange High School Class of 1938. She was a housewife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was of the Baptist faith and very active in her church committees and programs. She also served on various committees of the Decatur Woman's Club, and participated for many years in the Meals on Wheels Program in her community. She, along with her late husband Craig, was a volunteer at the local children's hospital. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Craig Noble, and her sister Ina Mae Spence (Clinton). She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Vansant Gargiulo (Ed) of Roswell, Ga.; sons Tony Noble (Diane) of Fort Valley, Ga., and Kenneth Noble (Nancy) of Rural Retreat, Va., together with six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren in Georgia, Florida, South Carolina and Virginia. Per her wishes, her remains were donated to Emory University Medical School (as were her husband's) for medical studies and research.
