CHARLOTTE - Orville L. "Jack" Mooney, 82, of Charlotte, formerly of Greenville, fell asleep Wednesday to await the trumpet sound of Jesus coming. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Joyner's Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park. The Rev. Ken Bryant will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Sunday at Joyner's Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. Jack served his country honorably with the United States Army during the Korean War as a Sergeant. For many years Jack was also active as a Mason and Shriner in Greenville. Jack is survived by his loving wife, Reba B. Moore Mooney; his step-sons, Larry Moore and wife Donna, of Oakboro, N.C. and Milton Moore and wife Julie, of San Diego, Calif.; his sister, Joyce Balance and husband Allen, of Fairfield, N.C.; his aunt, Geneva Keechi of Plymouth, N.C.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dallas Mooney and Myrtle Cox Mooney, and his daughter, Kerry M. Chapman. Jack also leaves behind many Army buddies that he served with while stationed in Texas and Germany and friends he worked with during his 38 years, 8 months at the Kinston DuPont Plant.
