KINSTON Pauline "Polly" Suggs Johnson, age 95 passed away peacefully Saturday morning January 18th at Magnolia Cottage Care, Dover, NC where she lived for several years. Mrs. Johnson was daughter of the late Leroy and Ethel Suggs of Columbus County, NC. Mrs. Johnson was a retired teacher of the Lenoir County Public School system. She is fondly remembered for her dedication to her many students and her passion for education. She and her husband were charter members and trustees emeritus of Southwood Memorial Christian Church where Mrs. Johnson also served as a Sunday school teacher and deaconess. Mrs. Johnson is preceded in death by her husband, Aaron Johnson, her parents, and her brother, Royston Suggs. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Elaine Johnson Marker of Kinston, her son, Mr. William (Billy) Aaron Johnson Sr. of Kinston, her sister, Mrs. Lillian S. Paul of Franklin, TN, and brother, Charles W. Suggs and wife Jane of Raleigh, NC. Mrs. Johnson is also survived by her grandchildren, Wes Cunningham of Raleigh, Amanda Dunn of Wilimington, Michelle Marker of Kinston, William Aaron Johnson Jr. of Greenville, Patrick Johnson of Sanford, Candice Johnson of Deep Run, Grace Baker of Greenville, and 7 great grandchildren. The family offers special appreciation to Sherry Griffin, administrator of Magnolia Cottage Care, and the special caregivers who were devoted to "Ms. Polly". The funeral will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday morning, January 21st at Southwood Memorial Christian Church with Rev. Henry Jarman officiating. A private graveside service will follow the services Tuesday at Fieldcrest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be contributed to a scholarship fund in memory of Pauline Johnson to Southwood Memorial Christian Church, 1027 Hwy 58 S. Kinston, NC. 28504.
