KINSTON - Ramona Cannady Griffis, 82, of Kinston passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2012. Born in Harnett County on September 29, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Johnny Franklin Cannady and Vestal Byrd Cannady. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel B. Griffis Sr.; sister Shirley Faircloth; and beloved daughter, Dianne Griffis Wells. Mrs. Griffis was a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church and was a Circle member. Her life revolved around her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. Survivors include daughters, Glenda Griffis Sutton and husband Jeff, of Kinston and Phyllis Griffis Rowland of High Point; son Dan Griffis Jr. and wife Susan, of Farmville; grandchildren Tiffiney Kilpatrick Veloudis, Dionne Griffis Seale, Kelly Kilpatrick, Danielle Gaetano, Daniel Griffis III, Cameron Wells, and Wrenn Wells; great-grandchildren Jordan, Courtney, Bailey, Michael, Lauren, Isabella, Megan, Romy, Sofia, Ally, Merritt, Cooper, Spencer, Bickett, Payne, and Foster; and sister, Mae Cannady Branch of Raeford. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until on Saturday, August 18, 2012, at the home of her daughter, Glenda Griffis Sutton, 3215 NC Hwy. 55 E, Kinston. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 19, 2012, at Pinelawn Memorial Park. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nursing staff of Greendale Forest in Snow Hill.
