SNOW HILL - Mr. Robert Lee Speight Sr., died Tuesday evening, April 3, 2012. A native of Greene County, he was born October 8, 1922, the son of Walter P. Speight and Minnie Estelle Graves Speight. Rob, as he was known to most, was a retired tobacco farmer and a member of Hull Road Original Free Will Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 6, at the chapel of Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service with the Reverend Leon Grubbs officiating. Interment will follow at the Snow Hill Cemetery. In addition to his parents, Rob was preceded in death by his wife, Selma Forrest Speight; sisters Ruby S. Harrell and Hazel S. Barrow; and brothers, Alton Speight, Melvin Speight, and Fred L. Speight. His surviving family includes his daughter, Susan Speight Jones and husband Vance, of Kinston; son Robert L. Speight Jr. and wife Ann, of Farmville; brother Albert Lindy Speight of Kinston; a faithful friend and caregiver, Alma H. Carraway of Snow Hill; sister-in-law Jean Speight of Snow Hill; grandchildren Perry Jones, Craig Jones, and Jason Jones, all of Kinston, Leigh Ann Howard of Walstonburg, Brad Speight of Mooresville, Andrew Speight of Texas, and Michael Craft of Greenville; and eight great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the residence, 284 Crowfoot Road, Snow Hill.
