MOSS HILL - Ruth Hardy Howell, 70, of the Moss Hill Community of Lenoir County, died Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Lenoir Memorial Hospital. Ruth was born on February 4, 1943, in Lenoir County to the late W. H. Howell and Kathleen Hardy Howell. She graduated from Moss Hill High School and attended Mount Olive Free Will Baptist College in Mount Olive, N.C. She worked tirelessly as the church secretary and kindergarten teacher at Holy Innocents Episcopal Church where she also served as the organist for well over 30 years. She worked several years at Davis Mill in Moss Hill and later became a caretaker for disabled patients. Ruth is survived by Tony Andrews, her special friend and soul mate; guardians Dot Andrews and Dolly Andrews; brother Wade Howell; sister-in-law Marcia Howell; and nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2013, at Holy Innocents Episcopal Church. A memorial service will begin at 3 p.m. with burial to follow in the Holy Innocents Cemetery. In lieu of floral arrangements, Ruth requested that memorials be made to Holy Innocents Episcopal Church Memorial Fund, 6861 Hwy. 55 West, Seven Springs, NC 28578.
