SNOW HILL - Mrs. Sally Whitted Brown, 72, died Thursday afternoon, March 28, 2013. A native of Greene County, she was born May 9, 1940, the eldest daughter of William P. and Pauline Moore Whitted. A graduate of the Snow Hill High School and East Carolina University, Sally had retired from the Greene County Housing Authority. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 1, at the Mewborn Family Cemetery. In addition to her parents, Sally was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Ross "Bud" Brown, Sr. in 2008. Her surviving family includes her sons, Butch Brown and wife Lynn, of Grifton and Allen Ross Brown Jr. and wife Hope, of Snow Hill; grandchildren, Allen Ross Brown III, Ashlan Brown Tyndall and husband D.J, Weston Brown, Leslie Kate Brown, all of Snow Hill and Garrett Brown of Grifton; a sister, Julia Whitted Griffin and husband Otis, of Snow Hill; her nephews, Jack Griffin and Michael Griffin, both of Snow Hill and David Griffin of Aulander; sister-in-law, Bonnie Carraway of Snow Hill; and nieces, Sarah Carraway of Snow Hill and Anna Turner of Wyoming. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service and other times at the residence, 207 Sixth Street, Snow Hill.
