SNOW HILL - Mrs. Shirley Ann Ham Beaman, 77, passed away Friday, March 15, 2013, at Vidant Medical Center. A native of Greene County, she was born July 26, 1935, the youngest child of Lehman Ham and Carrie Ann Grant Ham. Shirley was a 1953 graduate of the Snow Hill High School. On December 17, 1954, she married her soul mate, Henry Paul Beaman, and they made their home in the Lizzie Community of Greene County. Shirley was a member of Free Union Original Free Will Baptist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of Snow Hill American Legion Post 94. Shirley will be remembered for many things including her love of people and her extraordinary gift for remembering dates and facts. Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, March 17, at the chapel of Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service with the Reverend Kelley Smart officiating. Committal services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 18, at the Snow Hill Cemetery. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her sister, Irene Ham Barrow; and her brother, Vernon Ham. Shirley is survived by her beloved and devoted husband of 58 years, Henry Paul Beaman; her daughter, Paula Beaman of Winterville; and her son, Randy Beaman of the home. She is also survived by her special niece, Janice Ham and husband Howard, of La Grange; nephews Robert Carraway and wife Mary, of Goldsboro, James Carraway and wife Brenda, of Pensacola, Florida, and Tony Barrow of Goldsboro; sisters-in-law Joyce Corbett and husband Russell, of Snow Hill, and Mary Vandiford and husband Charles, of Snow Hill; and brother-in-law, Ray Beaman of Louisburg. Additional survivors include many special nieces and nephews from the Ham and Beaman families, as well as special cousins of the Ham, Grant, Beaman and Albritton families. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening following the service and other times at the residence, 135 Vandiford Thomas Road, Snow Hill.
