GOLDSBORO - Velma Ipock, 80, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 4, 2013 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Wayne County. Mrs. Ipock was born in Cumberland County to Joseph and Mae Brown Duke. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, and husbands, Thomas Bursell Thompson and Norman Ipock. She was co-owner of the Village Beauty shop in Kinston and also worked as a saleslady at Wal-Mart in Kinston. Ms. Ipock attended the First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Kinston, N.C. Survivors include three daughters, Eloise Thompson Killette of LaGrange, and Robie Killette, Jr., Sue Thompson Hill of Deep Run and fiancé, Michael Tasker and Jeri Thompson Herring of Kinston; one son, Thomas B. Thompson, Jr. of Kinston,; two sisters, Lou Duke Woodard of Kinston and Vina Duke Wells and husband, George, of Marlton, New Jersey; brother, Cecil W. Duke and wife Sherry of Ayden; fourteen grandchildren; Brandon Wade, Matthew Wade and wife, Kim, Amber Wade Hatcher, Hoyt and Steve Killette, Kristen Grady and husband, George, Nickie Howell and Stuart Herring, Courtney Herring, Bradley Herring and Sarah, Nicole Wainwright and husband, Lee, Rob Thompson, Thomas Thompson, III and Cole Thompson; and twelve great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her dear friends, Carol Jean Huffman and Wanda Smith. Funeral service will be held at Howard Carter Funeral Home on Sunday evening, October 6, 2013 at 6:00 pm with Reverend Willis Pearson officiating. Visitation will follow the service and other times at the home of Eloise Killette at 4374 Five Points Rd. in LaGrange.
