KINSTON - Betty Jean Mewborn Suddreth, 85, died Monday, February 10, 2014. Our family thanks the Lord for her example of faith, strength, and devotion. She was born January 24, 1929, in Kinston to the late Dr. Virgil H. Mewborn and Pearl Glancy Mewborn-Robinson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas H. Suddreth; and their daughter, Jean Suddreth Conway; also by her sister, Mrs. J. Fred Webb Jr. of Oxford and brothers, Dr. Virgil H. Mewborn Jr. of Burlington, William G. Mewborn of Kinston, and J. Harvey Mewborn of Kinston. She was a homemaker and a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Kinston where she was an Elder and an Honorary Life Member of Presbyterian Women. She was also a member of the Lenoir County Historical Association and Primitive Baptist Church Historical Association in Atlantic, N.C. She is survived by her son, Wade G. Suddreth and his wife Carrol P. Suddreth, of La Grange; her daughter, Bett Suddreth Rouse and her husband Ron Rouse, of Kinston; and son-in-law, Danny R. Conway of La Grange. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Danny R. Conway Jr. and wife Stacy, of Farmville, Jessie W. Conway of La Grange, Thomas R. Rouse and wife Catherine, of Greenville, Rebekah Rouse Mooney and husband Tony, of Yigo, Guam, Caroline Suddreth of Kinston; and step-grandchildren, Robin W. Benson and husband Gary, of Kenansville, and Jeffrey S. Rouse of La Grange. Her great-grandchildren are Will Rouse and Bryant Rouse of Greenville, and Harper Mooney, Sarah Mooney, and Rachel Mooney of Yigo, Guam. Step great-grandchildren, Austin Benson and Lauren Benson of Kenansville, and Brittany Rouse of La Grange. A memorial service will be held Friday, February 14 at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian, Kinston, N.C. The family will gather at 11 a.m for interment at Westview Cemetery.
