SNOW HILL - Mr. Jack Donald Blizzard, 78, died Tuesday morning March 25, 2014, at his residence. A native of Wayne County, he was born August 14, 1935, the son of Charlie Simpson and Ruth Cole Blizzard. He was a retired farmer and carpenter, possessing a great talent for woodworking. He cherished his family, particularly his grandchildren, and loved country music. Mr. Blizzard attended Free Union OFWB Church. His surviving family includes his wife, Peggy Jones Blizzard of the home; sons, Donnie Blizzard and wife Kathy, of Stantonsburg, and Dal Blizzard of Snow Hill; grandchildren, Luke Blizzard of Snow Hill, Marianna Blizzard of Raleigh, Danielle Blizzard, Jena Blizzard and Lexi Blizzard, all of Snow Hill; brothers, Jimmy Blizzard of Maury and Chester Blizzard of Wilson; his pet and faithful companion, Holly; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 27, at the Snow Hill Cemetery with the Reverend Kelley Smart officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service and other times at the Blizzard residence.
