La GRANGE – Evelyn Coltrane Turner, 82, of La Grange, passed away Friday, April 25, 2014. Evelyn was born August 6, 1931 in Lenoir County to the late John Frank Coltrane and Anna Louise Foss Coltrane. She was wife of the late Robert Kilby Turner and was preceded in death by a sister, Frances C. Harrison. Evelyn was an avid reader, enjoyed word search puzzles and loved spending time at her place on the river. She was a charter member of Community Baptist Church and later attended Pathway Baptist Church. A service of remembrance will be held Monday, April 28, 2014 at 2 p.m. from Rouse Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. A loving mother and grandmother, Evelyn is survived by four children, Janice S. Hamm and husband, Roger, Robert Franklin Sutton Jr., Teena S. James, Miklos Dean Sutton and wife, Teresa; sister, Lenora C. Fields; seven grandchildren, Steve Hamm, Tim Hamm and wife, Bridgette, Michael Denning, Margaret Johnson and husband, Jeffrey, Alex Sutton, Dr. Nissa Walke and husband, Peter, Julie James; and eleven great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Monday from 1-2 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home and at other times they will be at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Roger Hamm, 308 North Caswell Street, La Grange.
