KINSTON - Noah Grayson Stroud; "Superman" age 15 months of Kinston, earned his angel wings after a courageous battle with brain cancer on Friday, May 2, 2014. Noah was born on February 1, 2013. He will always be our brave hero. Noah is preceded in death by his grandma, Cindy Gray. On October 9, 2013, Noah was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma and had a brain tumor removed on September 27, 2013. Noah fought hard and brave during his treatment. He developed the nickname "Superman" because he was so strong and tough during the worst times. He will always hold a special place in the hearts of his family and encourage them through the great strength he always had. We love you Superman. Survivors include his mother, Krystal Westbrook of the home; father, Whaley Stroud of Kinston; sister, Emma Westbrook of the home; maternal grandfather, Donnie Gray Sr. of Kinston; maternal great-grandparents, Emma Gray of Kinston, Leroy Taylor and wife Blanche of Kinston; paternal grandparents, Tammy Stroud Gay and husband Burton of Kinston; paternal great-grandparents, Margaret Turner and husband Bobby of Kinston and Josephine Stroud of Mount Olive; uncles, Donnie Gray Jr. and wife Jenny of Dover and Justin Stroud of Kinston; and a special uncle Robert Gray of Kinston and cousins Kelsey Gray and Korey Gray of Dover. The family would like to say a special thank you for everyone's prayers, Duke Neuro-Oncology Unit and the Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at Duke University Hospital. Visitation will be Sunday, May 4, 2014 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Howard-Carter Funeral Home and other times at the parent's homes. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Howard-Carter Funeral Home with Pastor Justin Barnett officiating. Burial will follow the service at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
