KINSTON – Mr. William Dixon Currie, 86, died Sunday, June 15. He was born the son of the late Lenton Worth Currie Sr. and Sophie Everleigh Currie on January 30, 1928. After graduating from Red Springs High School, he obtained his undergraduate degree from Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C. He obtained his masters degree from Northwestern in Chicago, Illinois. He served 28 years in the United States Air Force and, after retiring, he worked an additional 11 years as a hospital administrator at James Kernan Orthopedic Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Dick had his private pilots license and enjoyed flying, water skiing, and riding his Honda Gold Wing in his early years. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Lenton Worth Currie, Jr. Dick is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marguerite Wooten Currie, his daughter, Joan Currie Connor (husband Tom) of Moneta, VA., and one grandson, Brian William Connor. His life will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 18 with a graveside service at Pinelawn Memorial Park beginning at 11:00 a.m. Visitation for family and friends will be held at Edwards Funeral Home on Tuesday June 17 from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzhheimer's Association online at www.alz.org, or Wounded Warrior Project P.O.
