LA GRANGE - Edwin Earl Chase, 82, of La Grange, passed away Monday, August 4, 2014. Ed was born May 8, 1932, in Wayne County to the late Gurney and Elizabeth Anderson Chase. During his teenage years he lived with Lucille and Lawrence Anderson who were a very instrumental couple in his upbringing. Ed served with the United States Army from 1952-1954 and was proud of his service to his country. He worked as an electrical contractor and farmer. Ed enjoyed the outdoors and working the land. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed quail hunting. A servant leader at heart, Ed was an active member of Tanglewood Church. Gospel music was always an important part of Ed's life. In earlier years, Ed and Dorothy sang with "The Mediators." They twice opened for "The Oak Ridge Boys." In his latter years he found great enjoyment in listening and singing with the Tanglewood Choir. A renowned conversationalist, Ed enjoyed good conversation and fellowship with the breakfast group at Ken's Grill and enjoyed time in earlier years at Billy K's Campground and at Crystal Beach. Many lasting bonds and friendships were made at all three places. Outside of his love for God, Ed lived for his family. He took great pride in caring for his family and his legacy will live on through them. A service to celebrate Ed's life will be held Thursday, August 7, 2014, at 2 p.m. from Tanglewood Church with Pastor Allen Stocks officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
