KINSTON - Eugene Forrest "Gene" Vermillion, 90, of 3012 Monticello Drive died Sunday, May 4, 2008 at Kinston Assisted Living. Formerly of Columbus, Ohio, Mr. Vermillion was known to his friends here as "Mr. Vee". He served in the US Army with the Air Corp in WWII and retired with 33 years with Lennox, Industries, retired with 15 years of service with Columbus Showcase and 8 years as Principal of Vermillion Vending Service. Mr. Vee was a member of the Shriners and was an avid Ohio State Buckeye Football Fan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles "Speedy" Forest and Freda Kempf Vermillion, his wife, Mary Louise Ross Vermillion, his grandson, Daniel Paul Bolowsky and three brothers, Robert, Charles and John. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 5, 2008 from the chapel of Garner Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Vermillion officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Survivors include his daughters, Sheron Storrings of Ayden, Harla Bolowsky and husband, Robert of Kinston, his son, Gordon E. Vermillion and wife, Linda of Kinston; his sister, Norma Murphy of Columbus, Ohio; his brother, Herb Vermillion of Cape Coral, FL; seven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
