JACKSONVILLE - Jimmy Roy Gaskins, 61, of Jacksonville, was born Aug. 12, 1946, and died on July 30 2008, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital. He was a wonderful father and grandpa. He was preceded in death by his mom Annie Lee Smith Gaskins and his father Leroy Pate Gaskins. Mr. Gaskins was a member of the New River Lodge. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Rouse Gaskins; three daughters, Mary Amanda Roemelen, Samantha Diane Mendes and her husband Derrick, all of Jacksonville, and Janice Marie Eleccion and her husband Leo, of Gardnerville, Nev.; three grandsons, Thomas Endicott, Jr. and his wife Melissa, Denzel Aseoche and Gabriel Eleccion; four granddaughters, Maranda Roemelen, Leeanna Roemelen, Kassandra Roemelen and Jasmine Mendes; great-grandson Alex Ragon; a brother, Linwood Gaskins and his wife Patricia, of Jacksonville and many other family and friends. He will be truly missed and always loved. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August, 2, 2008, at Jones Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville, with the Rev. Mickey Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Onslow Memorial Park Cemetery with Masonic Rites. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 1, 2008, at Jones Funeral Home.
