CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - David Kingsbury Sale, 77, of Chattanooga, Tenn., passed away Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at his home. Born in Detroit, David was in Army ROTC at Michigan State from 1952-56. In October 1956, after graduation, he was at Fort Bliss until March 1957. Mr. Sale was owner and operator of Sale Auto Mall for 55 years. He was of the Christian faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edmund and Nancy Sale; sister Patty Davis; son Matthew Sale; and daughter Deborah Sale. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Bernice Calfee Sale of Chattanooga; son Danny Sale and wife Cathy, of Kinston, N.C.; daughters Sondra Edler and husband Raymond, and Tracie Calfee Dalton, all of Chattanooga; brother Ned Sale and wife Jill, of Venice, Fla.; six grandchildren, Rafaella Sale, Lauren Sale, Danny Sale, Anna Sale, Caleigh Edler and George Dalton; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012, at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with Wayne Peters officiating. Interment followed in Lakewood Memory Gardens West with Tommy Klinehoffer, Scott Clark Sr., Steve Dillard, Sam Swafford, Mike Johnson and David R. Housley serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Nelson Linam, Joel Treshansky, John Beene, Doyle Housley, James Boyd, Doug Lee and Emilio Sanchez. The family received friends Wednesday prior to the service at Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 E. Brainerd Road, Chattanooga, Tenn.
