HOOKERTON - Mr. Edward Earl "Pete" Johnson, 81, died Sunday evening, November 11, 2012. A native of Greene County, he was born December 25, 1930, the son of Albert and Mattie Rouse Johnson. Pete established his livelihood in the soil of Greene County as a farmer and was a member of Mt. Calvary Free Will Baptist Church. He will be remembered as a loving husband and father and an honest man of character. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 14, at the chapel of Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service with the Reverend Jim Marcum officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery in Greenville. Pete's surviving family includes his beloved wife, Christine Grant Johnson; daughter Donna Johnson Cannon and husband Preston of Greenville; son Ricky Earl Johnson and wife Wanda, of Hookerton; grandchildren Shea Johnson and wife Christi, of Hookerton, and Crystal May of Greenville; sisters Mabel Miller of Hookerton, Pauline Davis of Hookerton, Janice Harrell of Snow Hill, Joan Smith of Hookerton, Hilda Clemmons of Grifton and Annie Johnson of Ayden; brothers Fred Johnson, David Johnson and Randy Johnson, all of Hookerton; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the residence, 4824 Four Way Road, Hookerton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt.
