DEEP RUN - Vonnie Ree Deaver Humphrey, 83, of Deep Run passed away at her home on Wednesday, November 14, 2012. Mrs. Humphrey was born in Lenoir County on June 30, 1929, to the late Dewey and Maggie Anderson Deaver. She will be remembered as a loving wife of 65 years and a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a member of Gray Branch F.W.B. Church for over 70 years. Survivors include her husband, Carlyle Humphrey of the home; daughter Sheila Humphrey Tilghman and husband Kenneth, of Kinston; son Wendall Carlyle Humphrey and wife Maria Isabel, of Deep Run; grandchildren C. C. Tilghman, K. C. Tilghman, Carly Humphrey, Pamella White, and Samantha Lopez; great-grandchildren, Seth Smith and Garett Smith; sisters Lena Gray and Edna Taylor, both of Kinston; brothers Alton Deaver, Marvin Deaver, and Garland Deaver, all of Kinston, Dalton Deaver of Newport, and Gurnice Deaver of Deep Run; special nieces and nephews; and caregivers, Amy Byrd, Billie Moody and Waconda Alexander. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Mary Langston and Community Hospice Chaplin Seth Jones for all their assistance and support. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, November 15, 2012, at Howard-Carter Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, November 16, 2012, at the funeral home with Pastors Josh Whitfield and Ray Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Gray Branch Church Cemetery.
