CHARLOTTE - Thomas Lamar Watson, 82, of Charlotte, formerly of Kinston, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at Presbyterian Hospital-Charlotte. Tom spent his younger years in the Kinston area and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War. He married Ada Worthington in 1954 and together they raised their four children and enjoyed spending time with their five grandchildren. Tom was employed with Commercial Credit and had been a member of the Jaycees. He rose thru ranks from Loan Manager to Assistant Manager. He retired as Branch Manager for the Charlotte office. Mr. Watson was a former member of Queen Street United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his brothers, David and Paul Watson. Mr. Watson is survived by his wife Ada; children Tom Watson Jr., Michael Watson, Randall Watson and Karen Reynolds; sister Maryhelen Daniels (Plummer) of Kinston; and grandchildren, Amanda, Caleb, Virginia, Jay and Aaron. The family will receive friends Saturday, December 1 from 10-11 a.m. at Memorial United Methodist Church, 4012 Central Ave., Charlotte with a service to follow at 11 a.m. Interment with military honors will take place in Evergreen City Cemetery.
