GREENVILLE - Mrs. Mamie Ruth Potter Hood, 87, died Wednesday, February 13, 2013. The funeral service will be conducted Monday at 1:30 PM in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery in Kinston. Mrs. Hood, a native of Lenoir County, was employed for a number of years in Kinston at the Hampton Shirt Factory, and for 20 years with Blue Bell Inc. in Wilson as a seamstress. For the past 20 years she had made her home in Greenville with her son, Lynwood Haddock and his partner, Dean Gurley. She was a devoted mother. She was preceded in death by her sister, Myrtie Civils, of Conyers, Georgia. Surviving are: sons, Lynwood A. Haddock and partner, Dean Gurley, of the home and Sherwood R. Haddock, of Wilmington, NC; granddaughter, Allison Haddock-Walker; great grandchildren, Zeke, Zan, Deborah Haddock-Walker and Brittany Haddock, all of Caryville, TN; sister, Sarah Potter Deaver; nephew, Gary Deaver, of Charlotte, and Mike Deaver and wife Susan and family, of Granite Falls, NC; and niece, Patricia Bost and husband, Larry, of Charlotte.
