GRIFTON - Martha JEAN Gresham Brown was welcomed home early Sunday morning, February 17, 2013. Our Lord and Savior has given her a new and glorious body in heaven. She will finally be able to praise the Lord in her angelic voice. Thank you Jesus for giving her such a sweet and loving spirit, especially during her seven years of disability. Jean was born in Duplin County on March 24, 1938. She lived her entire life in Duplin County until October, 2005, when she moved in with her sister and brother-in-law in Lenoir County. Jean was predeceased by her only daughter, Kathy Brown Hunter, her father Odell Gresham, her mother Dorothy Bell Heath Gresham, her sister Kathleen Gresham, and her brother Willis "Booster" Gresham. She is survived by two sisters and two brothers (in-laws); Edna Houston of Beulaville, Brenda Barlow (Jimmy) of Lenoir County, James "J.V." Gresham of Ahoskie, and Stanley Gresham (Vernette) of Kenansville. Survivors also include several nephews, nieces, cousins and great nephews and nieces. Jean was a member of Sandy Plain Free Will Baptist Church, but she attended Spilman Memorial Baptist Church on a regular basis for the past seven years. Jean will be missed by many friends who enjoyed the cakes and candy she loved to cook. Jean liked to travel and took trips to the states of Washington, Maine, Florida, Minnesota, and Missouri. She loved the shows at Myrtle Beach, SC and Branson, MO. The funeral will be held at the Community Funeral Home in Beulaville on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at 1:00 PM. Viewing will begin at noon.
