KINSTON - Luby Allen Murphy, 87, of Kinston passed away on Friday, March 15, 2013. Born in Lenoir County on November 26, 1925, he was the son of the late Dempsey and Lillie Stroud Murphy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Sparrow Murphy. Mr. Murphy served his country during WWII and was a member of Greater Vision Church. Prior to his retirement, he installed water systems with Herring & Rivenbark. He is survived by his son, Donny Murphy of Kinston and friend, Sybil Whaley of Beulaville; one grandchild, Genal Murphy West and husband Jay, of Deep Run; great-grandchild Eris Murphy West; and very special friends, Tinnie Deaver of Kinston and Ann Whaley of Deep Run. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2013, at Howard-Carter Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 18, 2013, at the Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Creekmore officiating. Burial will follow the service at Westview Cemetery.
