GRIFTON - Mrs. Jeanette Reddick Edwards, 80, died Tuesday evening, March 26, 2013. A native of Greene County, she was born August 26, 1932, the daughter of George Samuel Reddick and Martha Lela May Reddick. A Registered Nurse by profession, she worked for many years with the former Parrott Hospital before joining the Lenoir County Health Department where she remained until her retirement. Mrs. Edwards was a member of the Hugo Free Will Baptist Church. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 29, at the Maury Cemetery with the Reverend Dr. Charles Russell officiating. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Stancil Edwards Sr.; her daughter, Selina Edwards Barnes; her son, Stan Edwards; and her siblings, Althea Langley, Nina Harrell and Guy Reddick. Her surviving family includes her son, Sam Edwards and wife Wilma, of Grifton; daughter-in-law Fannie Edwards of Grifton; grandchildren Joseph Edwards of Grifton, Amanda Edwards of Grifton and Samantha Hignite and husband Keith, of Chicod; and a great-grandchild, Brady Hignite. The family will receive friends immediately following the service on Friday and other times at the residence.
