KINSTON - Mr. William Carney "Bill" Worthington, of Kinston, passed away at the age of 82, on Friday, April 12, 2013, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Katherine W. Scott and Lewey Worthington. He served in the United States Navy and was a member of VFW Post 4062 in Grifton. Mr. Worthington was a member of Masonic Lodge #95 in Hookerton and the Sudan Temple in New Bern. He was a member of Sharon United Methodist Church. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, baseball, and basketball. Mr. Worthington is survived by his wife, Minnie Lou Hall Worthington, a son, William Harold Worthington and wife, Julie, and two grandsons, Logan and Matt Worthington. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, April 14, 2013, at Sharon United Methodist Church with visitation to follow. Rev. Chris Jenkins will officiate. Masonic graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 15, at Pinelawn Memorial Park. Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made to Sharon United Methodist Church, c/o Lee Jones, P. O. Box 1003, Kinston, NC 28503. Edwards Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangement.
