DOVER - John Manley Barnett Jr., 61, of 3288 Tilghman Road, an avid bicyclist, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, while riding his bicycle. He was born in Asheville, N.C., on Nov. 11, 1951, to the late John Manley and Barbara Jean "Bobbie" Ownbey Barnett Sr. He married his wife, Sue Fortag Barnett, on June 7, 1986. He was a longtime employee of FRC-East Cherry Point in Havelock and was looking forward to retirement within the year. He was a faithful husband, father and a wonderful provider. John was faithful to Tabernacle FWB Church where he served as an usher, on the mission board, the bus ministry, RU (Reformers Unanimous) Ministries and as a Sunday school teacher. John's heart was for the mission's work of local church missions. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at Tabernacle FWB Church with Pastor Randy Herring officiating. Interment services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Westview Cemetery. Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Sue F. Barnett of the home; his children, all of the home, daughter, Amy Elisabeth Barnett, twin sons, John Manley Barnett and Joshua Edward Barnett and fiancée, Karie Lauren Maddox; his sister, Debra Jean Borg and fiancé, Fred Williams.
