Dear Marge,
We were saddened to learn of Fred's death while watching the Astros game on TV tonight. We first met Fred In Denver while he was with the Bears, and
later in Houston where we were transferred. He often came to our house
after games and enjoyed Sue's cooking.
He called me after getting his one and
only hit against the Mets in NY, and
said the word around the league was
"pitch Gladding carefully" ! We had many good times together, and he will
be remembered as a valuable friend. Our
deepest sympathy to you and Brenda.

Fred graduated three years ahead of me at Flat Rock High School. We were both pitchers on the baseball team. After signing with the Tigers he and I would work out together in the winter before he left for spring training in Florida. Fred was a great friend and will always be remembered for times we spent together. May God bless him in baseball heaven and always remember his family.

Everyone in our small town of Flat Rock knew of Fred back in the 50s and 60s. He played baseball very well for FRHS Rams. (I was two years ahead of him in school.) In fact, the whole town is very proud of Fred and what he accomplished in baseball. My sympathy to his family.

Marge and Brenda, my thoughts and prayers are with you. I have so many fond memories of our "Foxy Freddie"! He could always bring a laugh! I particularly remember when I spent most of the summer with you in Flat Rock when Fred was coaching in Detroit. You all made me feel like a part of the family.

Dear Marge and family, while I only had the privilege of working with Fred for two years, he was someone I came to admire and respect during our brief time together and when I had an opportunity to see him again a few years after our baseball days had ended, he treated me like we had been friends forever. My deepest sympathies to you and your family, Fred will be greatly missed.
