DITOMMASI, ADRIANO "ANDY" - age 83, of Maryville, passed away Thursday, July 3, 2014, at Asbury Place of Maryville. Andy was born on February 15, 1931, in Naples, Italy. He was a veteran of the Italian Navy serving from 1950 - 1953 as a Merchant Marine. Andy won a gold and silver medal in the 1952 Olympics in Helsinki, Finland, for the backstroke. Upon arriving in New York in 1959, Andy worked in numerous restaurants from New York to Las Vegas, and was also employed with the US Department of Commerce in Washington, DC, in the Office of the Secretary, Communications and Transportation Division. Andy was the garde' manager at Cherokee Country Club for many years and more recently was a vendor at Green Acres Flea Market. He was an avid Washington Redskins fan, loved swimming, cooking and fishing. Preceded in death by his parents, Giovanni DeTommaso and Maria Luongo DeTommaso. Survivors include his son, Adrian J. DiTommasi; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa M. DiTommasi and Philip J. Sharp; grandchildren, Hannah Marie and Isabel Naomi DiTommasi, and Lyric Rose Sharp; step daughters, Sonja and Renee' Conner; sister and brother-in-law, Ada and James Lee; nephews, Jimmy and Anthony Lee; and many friends at Asbury Assisted Living. Funeral service will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2014, in the Smith Trinity Chapel. Entombment will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at Grandview Cemetery.
