CARL NELSON BACON

BACON, CARL NELSON - age 88 passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at Ben Atchley State Veterans Home. Carl was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and Korea. He served in the Pacific Theater. Carl was a lifelong member of Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed a career as a Hydraulic Engineer with the U.S. Government. Carl's hobbies included woodworking, hiking, travel and photography. He also volunteered at the Farragut Folklife Museum for 25 years. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lucille Bacon and brother and sister-in-law, Robert (Bob) and Ruth Bacon and Lloyd Bacon. He is survived by his brother Joseph Bacon and wife, Bette; sister-in-law, Margaret Bacon; nieces and nephews, Karen Sus, Victoria Bacon, Margaret (Peggy) Coker and husband, Don, Larry Bacon and wife, Donna, Patti Sexton and husband, Mike, James Bacon and wife, Lisa, Dan Bacon and wife, Lauren and Carol Sweetser and husband, Mike; many great nieces, nephews and special friends, Jane Black, Vicky Gardner, Victor Levchuk and Fred Felkner. The family expresses their appreciation to the caring staff of Ben Atchley State Veterans Home for their compassionate care of Carl. The family will receive friends at 6:00 p.m. Friday, June 27, 2014 with funeral services to follow at 7:00 p.m. in the Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel with Rev. Leonard Turner officiating. Family and friends will gather Saturday at 12 Noon at Highland Memorial Cemetery on Sutherland for graveside services. Full military honors will be conferred by the East TN State Veterans Honor Guard.
