DONALD THOMAS "DUCK" WICKS

WICKS, MR. DONALD THOMAS "DUCK" - age 77, a resident of Rockwood, Tennessee, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2014. He was born September 12, 1937, in Rockwood, Tennessee, to Melvin Hill Wicks and Madge Thelma Fox Wicks. Mr. Wicks was a member of the Rockwood Church of Christ where he served as a deacon until his health declined. Don retired from the State of Tennessee, Department of Survey and Design. Don served as a member of the Roane County Commission 1986 - 1994 and 2002 - 2006. He was a member of the Rockwood Civitan Club; served on the Rockwood High School Class of 1955 Reunion Committee; and served on the Chamberlain Board. Don loved life and loved helping other people, especially children, and loved sports. He coached in the Rockwood Rams Program, refereed games, played softball, and was a big University of Tennessee Vols fan. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include wife of 54 years, June Wicks of Rockwood, Tennessee; sons, Randy Wicks and wife, Mary of Harriman, Tennessee, Jeff Wicks and wife, Lisa of Rockwood, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Amber and Tyler Wicks of Harriman, Tennessee, Rachel and Sam Wicks of Rockwood, Tennessee; two sisters, Wilma Walker of Rockwood, Tennessee, Judy Jolley of Rockwood, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Friday, March 14, 2014, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Evans Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 15, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Evans Mortuary with Kirby Hinds and Kendall Bear officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Rockwood.
