WOODY, GEORGE - age 94, of Kingston, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born April 13, 1920 in Paint Rock and was a lifelong resident of Roane County. In 1970, he and his wife founded High Ridge Baptist Church which was their life. He was the oldest living Charter member and a faithful Deacon who lived a dedicated Christian life, with his desire more than anything to see souls saved and for the church to grow and be a shining light in the community. Not only did he love his family but he loved his church family and friends. George owned and operated a saw mill for many years and was a carpenter by trade. He was also an avid dog trader and enjoyed rabbit hunting with his beagles. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 69 years, Gertrude Lynn Woody; daughter, Delilah Woody; grandson, Michael Woody; parents, John & Elizabeth Miller Woody; sisters, Robbie Bostic, Frankie Wood and Eva Bagwell. Survivors: children, Ronald Woody & wife, Sheila of Lenoir City, Dwight Woody & wife, Jody of Winder, GA, Melvin Woody & wife, Melody of Loganville, GA, Sandra Alexander & husband, Raymond of Kingston, Angelia Zehner & husband, Joe of Kingston, Kevin Woody & wife, Janet of Kingston, Trina Clower & husband, Howard of Kingston; grandchildren, Emily Woody, Dwight Woody, Jr., Van Woody, Jill Allen, Laura Woody, Jeff Woody, Suzannah Alexander, Joseph Alexander, Aaron Woody, Miranda Clower, Jacob Clower, Lucas Clower; 5 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; brother, J.C. Woody of Loudon; sisters, Mary Christian of Loudon, Ruth Miller & husband, Russell of Spring Hill, Tika Bright of Loudon; brother-in-law, Jack Moore of Kingston; a host of extended family and friends. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 pm, Friday, May 30, 2014 at High Ridge Baptist Church with funeral service following at 8:00 pm, with Bro. Taylor Adams, Bro. Keith Bailey and Bro.
