CATE, ARTHUR W., SR. - age 86, of Knoxville, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2013. He was born and raised in the Marble City area and was a member of Middlebrook Pike United Methodist Church. A World War II Navy veteran, Arthur retired as a machinist, holding several patents in the industry. Arthur was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary; grandson, John D. Cate; and brother, James T. Cate. He is survived by his children and spouses, David and Narian Cate, Art Cate, Jr. and Cammie, Mary Angela and Nick Holmann and Jane Cate; grandchildren, Stephanie, Nikki, Wesley, Patrick, Alex and Laura; two great granddaughters, Rachel and Kate; brothers, Reverend Lee Cate and Bernard Cate; extended family, Sue and Jack McKeage and Betty Davenport. The family and friends will meet 11:00 a.m. Monday, at the main entrance to Highland Memorial Cemetery, for graveside service with Pastor Evelyn Harris officiating. The family request that, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Arthur Cate, Sr. Memorial Fund, c/o Middlebrook Pike United Methodist Church, 7234 Middlebrook Pike, Knoxville, TN 37909.
