DEVLIN, CHARLES BERNARD - born on August 24th, 1944 in Brooklyn, NY, passed away on January 19th 2013 in Knoxville, TN after a courageous and determined fight against ALS. He was a graduate of St. John's University, Queens, New York and a lifelong fan of the Red Storm. Following graduation he became an Investigator with the United States Naval Criminal Investigation Services (NCIS). In 1969, he married his lifelong companion Carol Ann. At the height of the Cold War, during the early 1970's, he became a FBI Special Agent with his primary service coming in his hometown of New York City. His primary mission was counter-Soviet intelligence though he previously worked for the bureau in Springfield, IL and Columbus, Ohio. He later became director of security for CBS Records and travelled the globe. The late 1980's brought Charlie and his family to Knoxville, TN where he served with the TVA Inspector General's Office. His completed his long and extraordinary service to the United States as a US Postal Worker. Like many of his fellow Northern Irishmen, Charlie had a love of family, faith, reading, animals and a good pint. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his father Patrick Devlin, mother Isabella Devlin, and his sisters Patricia and Sally. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Carol Ann Devlin; daughter, Katie Devlin of Charlotte NC; son, Jeffrey Devlin and wife Joanne, his beloved grandson Liam Charles Devlin; brother James, sister Mary, both of New York and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be at All Saints Catholic Church, Tuesday the 29th of January at 1030 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors program in his memory. Arrangements handled by East Tennessee Mortuary Service.
