DAVIDSON, CHARLES W. (KNOWN AS CHARLIE) - age 67, of Knoxville, TN crossed over the river into the presence of our Heavenly Father on September 7, 2013. He was born in Newport News, VA to William and Betty Castellow Davidson. He graduated from Old Dominion University on June 7, 1970 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. Charlie and wife Wanda have been married for 6 years. He was the owner of Southern Auto Supply for 34 years in Fredericksburg, VA. Charlie was a mentor to many, always taking the time to bring out the best, as he did everywhere he went, never hesitating to glorify God for what He had done for him. Charlie said his greatest blessing in life was being blessed with wonderful Christian parents. Charlie was known by many as The Virginia Gentleman. Charlie served in the Air Force Reserves and was a dedicated member of International Gideon Association. He served on the Board of Directors of Gethsemane Ministries International. He and wife Wanda are the Directors of Soaring Eagles of Faith Ministries. Charlie liked spending time with family and his dogs, Tobey, Lexie and Roxie. Charlie was blessed with 3 daughters, Ann and Lyle Sewall of Atlanta, GA, Amy and Robert Grubb of Waynesboro, GA, Sarah and Nathan Ford of Waynesboro, GA; 2 stepsons, Gene Miller of Clinton, TN, Wayne Miller of Minot, ND; grandchildren, Jack and Thomas Sewall, Adam, David and Mary Grubb, Ben and Lauren Ford, Chris and Danielle Miller, April, Autumn and Zack Miller. Children always had a special place in Charlie's heart. Charlie had 2 brothers, William Albert Davidson and wife Sally of Charlotte, North Carolina, Melvin Ray Davidson of Newport News, VA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Doris and Larry Miller; nieces, Pamela Roffe and Christine McGrail; and nephew. Reverend Jim Davidson. Charlie was a Sunday School teacher and leader at Friendship Baptist Church in Fredericksburg, VA, for many years before relocating to Knoxville, Tennessee in 2008. He and wife Wanda are members of First Baptist Powell Church. Charlie was a dedicated servant of God through foreign missions in Turkey and India, as well as locally. Pallbearers are David Bullock, Elmer Baum, Gene Miller, Larry Miller, Jr., Tom McAllister, Clifford Miller. Donations may be made to The Soaring Eagles of Faith, P.O. Box 71283, Knoxville, TN 37938 as a Memorial. Celebration for Charles' life will be conducted at Stevens Mortuary 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 10. Funeral services will be conducted by his nephew Reverend Jim Davidson on Wednesday, September 11 at 1:00 p.m. in Stevens Mortuary Chapel. Entombment services will follow at Highland Memorial Mausoleum Chapel. The family would like to express their gratitude to the entire staff at the University of Tennessee Hospital, Dr. Wilkerson, Dr Kerr, Dr. Bertoli and staff, RN Casey, RN Pat, CNA Kimberly and many others. Charles fought a short battle with cancer; special people made the process more bearable as he went home to be with his Lord.
