DOUGLAS, JACK RONALD - age 66 of Knoxville went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, September 16, 2013, due to congestive heart failure. Jack had received a kidney transplant 12 years ago due to end stage renal disease. He was an avid supporter of organ donation. Attended Riverdale Baptist Church. US Army veteran. Jack was a glassworker since age 17 and contractor with Standard Glass and 3T Glass Co. Avid Dale Earnhardt, Sr. fan, enjoyed NASCAR, and enjoyed all sports. Preceded in death by parents, Floyd and Ruth Douglas; brothers, Jerry Douglas and John Douglas; sister, Sharon Parrott; and step-son, Anthony Baxter. Survived by wife, Shirley Douglas; sons, Jack Ronald Douglas, Jr., and Ronald Scott Reed; daughter, Karen Jean Freeman and husband Stan; sisters, Karen Cloninger and husband J.D., and Petrina DeLapp and husband Bill; grandchildren, Jacalyn Adair Finch and Lauren Jean Freeman; friends, Duane Turney, Alfred Tindell, James Turney, and best friend, Ronnie Johnson; and special buddy, Sir Rudolph (Rudy) Ledair, his miniature dachshund. Special thank you to Tennessee Donor Association, UT hospital nurses, UT Hospice, Dr. Mitchell Goldman; Dr. Denise Rivers, and Dr. Oscar Grandas. Funeral services will be 7:00 PM Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at Bridges Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Vincent officiating. Clinch Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37916. Family and friends will meet 1:00 PM Thursday at Bridges Funeral Home and proceed to Highland Memorial Cemetery for a 2:00 PM interment.
