KENNEDY, JEANNE CLAIRE VEHR - age 86 of Knoxville, died gently in her sleep, Wednesday morning, July 25, 2012 at her home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Georgiana Vehr; husband, John L. Kennedy, Jr.; brother, George Vehr; and sister, Mary Frances Disney. Jeanne Claire was a graduate of Mount Saint Joseph's college, Cincinnati, Ohio and worked as a computer programmer with Y-12 in Oak Ridge until she became a full time mom to thirteen children. An avid tennis player and instructor who enjoyed the sport well into her 80's. Jeanne Claire was a devout member of All Saints Catholic Church, worked in the food pantry at Ladies of Charity, and she served communion to invalid parishioners each month. Jeanne was a loving mother and will be sorely missed by her children, Georgie (Jim) Whitley, Mary-Claire (John) Beard, Margie Kennedy, Rose (Mike) Canada, John L. Kennedy, III (Missy), Liz (Richard) Blosser, Joe (Lisa Kurtz) Kennedy, Mark (Kelly) Kennedy, Charlie (Cathy) Kennedy, Eddie (Debbie) Kennedy, Billy Kennedy, Marie Kennedy and Robert (Kate) Kennedy. Jeanne Claire is also survived by her twenty-seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; sister, Peggy Fox; brother-in-law, Bobby (Josie) Kennedy and sister-in-law, Adele Marie Kennedy. A Celebration Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at All Saints Catholic Church, with Father Michael Woods officiating. Interment to follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials donations be made to Open Arms Care Foundation, 7417 Kingston Pike, Suite 300, Knoxville, TN 37919 or to the Ladies of Charity, 120 Baxter Ave., Knoxville, TN 37917. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday with a Rosary service to follow at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel.
